Facial resurfacing – effective and safe scar removal

Acne scars are an unsightly reminder, after an equally unpleasant period of fighting facial imperfections. Acne treatment can be difficult and often takes years. In the process, however, we do not think about the fact that we may be left with unwanted souvenirs in the form of scars. Laser removal of acne scars is an effective method to get rid of this unsightly problem once and for all. The face is a special place and is our calling card in human relations. The first thing that strikes our eyes is the skin. If it is covered with numerous scars, we do not feel comfortable and fall into complexes. Learn how to deal with it to feel comfortable and confident in your own skin!

Acne treatment and laser scar removal

Before undergoing laser therapy, it is important to treat any acne lesions to completion. We can be helped by a dermatologist who will prescribe appropriate oral medications, ointments and cosmetics. At this stage, we can already undergo laser treatment for acne scar removal. An effective way to do this is the Emerge treatment. The Emerge fractional laser is a device designed to deeply resurface and smooth the skin, making acne scars significantly reduced. In addition, the procedure has a high level of safety, as fractional lasers (unlike ablative lasers) do not contribute to vaporization of the epidermis and dermis layer. An additional advantage with laser scar removal is that fine lines and spots also disappear – so the treatment is versatile.

Laser scar removal – contraindications

While fractional laser treatment is safe, it also has contraindications that must be strictly observed. Laser therapy cannot be performed in several cases. They exclude it:

  • Active bacterial and viral infections,
  • inflammatory skin conditions and chronic inflammatory dermatoses (psoriasis, atopic dermatitis),
  • photodermatoses,
  • herpes,
  • skin cancer,
  • Skin healing disorders, scar formation,
  • disruption of the continuity of the skin at the site of treatment,
  • Oral therapies with retinoids and isotretinoin or steroids,
  • Photosensitizing herbs (St. John’s wort, calendula, horsetail) and photosensitizing drugs (antibiotics, antidepressants),
  • Tanned skin (30 days after tanning), use of self-tanning creams,
  • Use of peels (14 days before the procedure),
  • A period of 4 weeks after filling wrinkles with hyaluronic acid,
  • A period of 2 weeks after botulinum toxin treatment,
  • pregnancy and breastfeeding,
  • A history of convulsions caused by exposure to light,
  • Lowering of the body’s immunity.

Inform your doctor/specialist immediately of any complaints. The number of treatments is determined on an individual basis. Usually, however, approx. 10 treatments at intervals of 4 to 6 weeks. The procedure is generally painless and does not require anesthesia, although patients may experience minimal discomfort during the procedure.
