Although almost every aesthetic medical procedure can be performed in winter, for some it is actually the ideal time. We are mainly talking about procedures that can sensitize the skin to sunlight, and body treatments where you have to wait a bit for results. Check out what will be the best choice for winter!
Removal of wrinkles with laser
Facial resurfacing is certainly one of the treatments worth performing during the colder months. In our clinics, we carry them out using one of two lasers:
The principle of their operation is virtually the same. The precise beam induces micro-damage in the skin in a controlled manner, so that self-healing processes can take place in the tissue. The complexion definitely becomes smoother, and at the same time tighter. After the procedure, the skin undergoes approx. A seven-day recovery period, during which it may be red, sensitive and slightly swollen. Small scabs also appear at the laser site, which must not be scraped off – they should fall off on their own after a few days. One of the main contraindications for the procedure is a fresh tan, and a very important post-treatment recommendation – avoiding the sun. This is why laser scar removal is best performed in winter or autumn.
Removal of discolouration
The indications for performing hyperpigmentation removal in winter include similar considerations to those for laser resurfacing, although risk factors for the formation of these spots on the skin, namely sun exposure, would have to be added here. Discoloration can be removed with both laser and chemical peels. Laser therapy focuses on specific points on the face and is performed with the iPixel, PicoClear and Dye-VL devices – the selection of the appropriate laser follows an initial visit, during which a patient interview and diagnosis of the problem is conducted. In the case of the Retises CT chemical peel, which is performed at our clinic, the entire face is smoothed, and, if the patient wishes, also the neck and décolleté or other selected areas. The effect is not only to get rid of hyperpigmentation, but also to brighten the tissue, smooth it and get rid of various imperfections, such as pimples. After it is carried out, the skin usually exfoliates for up to seven days. The standard procedure involves approx. 4 treatments at 2-week intervals.
Acne treatment
The problem of acne-prone skin can be treated in a similar way to hyperpigmentation, which is with a laser or chemical peel. In our clinics, we most often use the Alma Harmony XL PRO-ACNE laser for this purpose, as well as the DermaQuest peel, which is excellent for sensitive and irritation-prone skin. Both of these methods eliminate inflammation and destroy proliferating bacteria, which not only removes already formed lesions, but also prevents the formation of new ones. For rosacea, the most common treatment we recommend to patients is the Thunder MT laser, which is also excellent at removing erythema.
Scar removal
Scars are another affliction that the laser beam helps with. As in the case of wrinkles, the entire procedure is based on the intense stimulation of tissue for self-regeneration. iPixel and PicoClear lasers are also used to carry it out. Laser therapy for atrophic scars, such as acne scars, has the best results, although hypertrophic scars can also be removed by this method, provided the patient does not have a pronounced tendency to develop them.
Hair removal
Laser epilation, both of the face and body, is also worthwhile in winter. Such a treatment not only sensitizes the body to the sun’s rays, but also requires several sessions (the interval between them depends on the epilated part of the body). Therefore, by opting for this procedure in the cooler months, you will not only avoid the hassle of covering your skin during the greatest heat, but you will also be able to welcome summer with perfectly smooth skin. Vacuum massage – body shaping and cellulite removal
Vacuum massage, or endermologie, is a completely non-invasive method of smoothing skin and removing fat. The treatment is performed with a device equipped with suction heads with rotating rollers inside. This procedure does not sensitize the skin to the sun, but it takes some time to achieve optimal results (about a dozen sessions are often necessary), so the whole process is best to start already in winter.
