Laser vascular closure – an effective and modern solution
Laser treatments have been a real hit in aesthetic medicine for a long time. The procedure involves directing a laser beam at the dilated vessels, which raises the temperature of the vessels and significantly shrinks them and eventually closes them, getting rid of the problem permanently. At our clinic, we use two methods of laser-assisted vascular closure.
The first such treatment is Thunder MT, which uses a device with as many as two laser beams: alexandrite (755 nm long) and neodymium-yag (1064 nm long). This makes it possible to precisely tailor the parameters of the procedure to each patient’s needs. In addition, the head is equipped with an advanced Qool-Air cooling system, which significantly increases the comfort of the treatment. This treatment is most often performed once, although it can be repeated after 6 weeks if necessary. One session lasts from 20 minutes to an hour, depending on the treatment area.
The second laser vascular closure treatment we offer is the Harmony XL Dye-VL. The procedure is performed using a neodymium-yag device with a beam length of 1064 nm. It uses a series of as many as three filters, allowing the light to be concentrated in an extremely narrow range. This ensures not only better results, but also the safety of the procedure.
Both procedures require virtually no recovery period. The patient can return to her daily activities the same day. The only side effects are swelling and small scabs at the treatment site, but these last up to two weeks at most and disappear on their own. It is also important to keep in mind certain contraindications to laser vascular closure procedures, such as pregnancy and lactation, use of photosensitizing drugs and herbs, epilepsy, certain skin diseases, blood clotting disorders, certain skin diseases, susceptibility to scarring, or kidney failure.

Another treatment we offer for broken capillaries is ThermaVein. This procedure involves the use of radio waves, which produce a thermocoagulation effect in the skin. For precise action, very thin needles are used, allowing energy to be introduced directly into the vessels. It is possible to treat up to 15 cm of dilated blood vessels during a single treatment. Most often, one session of 15 minutes is enough to achieve the desired effect. After it is performed, only slight redness or swelling are possible, but these will subside quickly and spontaneously. Of course, you should also be aware of contraindications to performing facial vascular closure with this method: including, most notably: pregnancy and breastfeeding, metal implants, fresh wounds at the treatment site, a history of cancer, dermatitis or certain cardiovascular diseases, such as phlebitis.
How long does the effect of vascular closure last?
Although the results of each vascular closure procedure are permanent, there is always a risk of renewal of the problem. This is because in skin prone to telangiectasia, other vessels may dilate. Therefore, in maintaining the effects of the treatment, proper skin care is crucial. It is also very important to remember the post-surgical recommendations and follow them scrupulously. The most common is adequate tissue hydration, avoiding the pool, gym and sauna for 4 weeks, and giving up tanning. Patients will learn all the details during a medical consultation.
